The Healing Project is a grassroots initiative that centers the voices and perspectives of Blackwomen and cultivates radically brave spaces for healing justice through the arts and politics of resistance and refusal, testimonio and storytelling, and other modes of visual, expressive, and performance art — to obsessively, creatively, and collectively riot against the status quo.
We imagine a world where Blackwomen and blackwomen healers are healed. Where Blackwomen are liberated as knowers and are primary contributors to knowledge projects about their health and well-being; having a permanent seat at the table. We envision our collective work impacting communities on multiple levels and in an intimate and wholistic way — addressing mental health oppression and epistemic, psychosocial, and gender-based violence against Blackwomen and other racialized women.
